Buck Hill and the 365 Ride

No longer will the winter warriors of the Midwest have to suffer through summer without being able to ride. Minnesota now has a place to ride all year round. That’s right, Buck Hill is making all of our dreams come true, one run at a time.

If you haven’t heard anything about this yet, let me enlighten you. This past summer, Buck Hill had been working on a project to bring year-round shredding to the Midwest. They officially opened the slopes in September of 2016. Buck Hill brought in this really cool material called “Neveplast”. This artificial snow material was created by an Italian company and it lets your board or skis carve like you’re on actual snow. Of course it looks nothing like snow. Neveplast is hard to miss due to the bright green and blue colors. As of now, the terrain park, beginners hill, tubing hill, Milk Run and an airbag are all open and ready for shredding.

Though I, personally, haven’t had the chance to ride the new turf, there are a lot of great reviews across social media. People are saying things like, “The artificial snow is fun. Only takes 3 or 4 runs to get used to.“ and “It's like skiing on hard pack snow/ice mix. You can get some amazing speed in a very short period of time.“. There’s also been word that falling on it hurts a bit more than crashing into the snow, so be sure to dress appropriately. Helmets, long pants and long sleeves would probably be wise to protect yourself from burns and some potential injuries. If you have any other questions, feel free to check out Buck Hill’s website here.

Not a skier or snowboarder but still interested in checking it out? There’s a tubing hill open if that’s something you’re interested in. If you really just want to look at it, the lodge and new restaurant are open. Hang out, enjoy the day and watch the action. If you are ready to shred, grab your equipment and head to Buck Hill!

Live Big.
